From the end of September to the beginning of October, Saint-Tropez takes to its seafaring quarters for the finest gathering of old and modern sailing yachts on the Mediterranean.

It’s a long story that’s been told so many times: two boats, “Pride” and “Ikra”, challenge each other to a game one day in September 1981.

The coastal course started from the Portalet tower (Saint-Tropez) and reached the “Club 55” (a private beach in the Bay of Pampelonne), where Patrice de Colmont presented the winner with an improvised cup called the “Club 55 Cup”.

The appointment for the following year draws other friends into the challenge. Patrice de Colmont is responsible for the event’s growth, in a family spirit that will make the famous “Nioulargue” unique.

In 1999, the event now known as “Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez” took up the torch, with the leitmotiv of keeping the spirit of yesteryear.

Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez takes place over a week between late September and early October, depending on the calendar.
